When i try to capture videos playing in my system, it does not show the video instead it shows just a black screen.

Try to turn off your hardware acceleratur under Screen Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot (Win XP, not sure where it's located in Vista and 7). I had same problem with several screen capture programs. The hardware accelerator can be turned off in several steps. Try it out, you might manage to capture when you turn it off just about 50%.

I dont have any problems recording windowed or fullscreen movies from Mediacenter, Media Player and VLC. (Win7 prof, 32bit)
